Cultural Attractions
The Paphos Archaeological Park (10 min walk away)
The Kato Pafos Archaeological Park includes sites and monuments from ancient times to the Middle Ages, while most remains date to the Roman period. The marvellous mosaic floors of four Roman villas form the impressive epicentre of the finds. The complex includes other important monuments, such as the Asklipieion, the Odeion, the Agora, the "Saranta Kolones" (Forty Columns) Fortress, the "Limeniotissa" Ruins of early Christian Basilica and the "Tombs of the Kings". The Park is open daily and there is a small entrance fee of €1.71.

The Roman Mosaics (10 min walk away)
Archaeological discoveries in the Paphos region are continual, making the Cyprus mosaics a highlight for those tracing civilization's roots in Cyprus. Excavations have unearthed the spectacular 3rd -5th century Paphos mosaics of the Houses of Dionysus, Orpheus, and Aion, and the Villa of Theseus - buried for sixteen centuries and yet remarkably intact. Their grace of line and subtlety of colour will surely inspire those who see them.

Paphos Mediaeval Fort (10 min walk away)
The fort of Nea Pafos (Paphos) is located at the west end of the harbour. It was built during the Frankish occupation in the 13th century in order to replace the Byzantine castle of 'Saranta Kolones'. The fort has only one entrance on its east side and very small windows. Its main part is a big square tower that has an enclosed courtyard in the middle. The Venetians dismantled the fort in 1570 so that the Ottomans, who had begun their conquest of the island, would not use it. According to a Turkish inscription placed above the entrance the Ottomans rebuilt the fort in 1780. Nearby are the ruins of a second fort, which was probably built in the same period. Open Daily: 8am - 5pm (November - March), 8am - 6pm (April - May, September - October), 8am - 7.30pm (June - August). There is a small entrance fee of €1.71

The Tombs of the Kings (5 min bus ride away)
The “Tombs of the Kings” are situated close to the sea in the north western necropolis of Pafos (Paphos). They owe their name to their size and splendour - some probably belonged to the Pafian aristocracy, and not because royalty was buried there. They are rock cut and date to the Hellenistic and early Roman periods. Some of them imitate the houses of the living, with the rooms (here the burial chambers) opening onto a peristyle atrium. They are similar to tombs found in Alexandria, demonstrating the close relations between the two cities during the Hellenistic period. Open Daily: 8am - 5pm (November - March), 8am - 6pm (April - May, September - October), 8am - 7.30pm (June - August). There is a small entrance fee of €1.71

Paphos Archaeological Museum (10 min walk away)
The Archaeological Museum of Pafos houses an attractive collection of Cypriot antiquities from the Pafos area, dating from the Neolithic Age to 1700 AD. Open Tuesday-Friday: 8am - 3pm and Saturday: 9am - 3pm. There is a small entrance fee of €1.71

Paphos Byzantine Museum (5 min bus ride away)
The Paphos Byzantine Museum, situated in the premises of the bishopric in the centre of Paphos, consists of a collection of mainly 16th Century Icons but also includes one of the oldest Icons in Cyprus, that of Agia Marina, dating to the 8th or 9th Century.

Paphos Ethnographical Museum (5 min bus ride away)
The Ethnographic Museum in the centre of Paphos occupies two floors of a family mansion and exhibits priceless antiques as well as examples of traditional ware such as basketry, straw trays, sieves and irons, a bedroom displaying lace and clothing, another room showing 19th century island pottery and a typical wood-fired oven in the garden.

St Paul’s Pillar & Early Christian Basilica (10 min walk away)
Built in the 13th Century, it stands on the ruins of the largest early Byzantine Basilica on the island. Here you can see St. Paul’s Pillar, where it is said that Saint Paul was bound and flogged for preaching Christianity.
