Limassol (30 min drive away)
Limassol, the successor to two ancient city-kingdoms, is often referred to as the venue of a royal wedding in the Middle Ages. The 14th Century fort, which is built on the site of an earlier Byzantine castle, is where, according to tradition, Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her Queen of England in 1191. Proud of the spontaneous hospitality of its people, Limassol is today known as an important business and holiday tourism centre with a choice of world-class hotels and entertainment spots lining the coast. Home to Cyprus’ main wine producers, Limassol’s famous wine festival in September and carnival parades before Easter have made it the island’s city of ‘merriment’.

Nicosia (90 min drive away)
Nicosia lies roughly at the centre of the island, with a rich history that can be traced back to the Bronze Age. It only became the capital in the 11th Century AD. The Lusignans transformed it into a magnificent city with a royal palace and over fifty churches. Its historical past blends brilliantly with its contemporary and cosmopolitan features. The old city, enclosed within 16th century Venetian walls, is dotted with museums, ancient churches and mediaeval buildings that preserve the atmosphere of bygone days. And yet, this old heart is split in two, leaving Nicosia the only divided capital in Europe. The new Nicosia continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, as it develops its full potential as a trendy European capital, an international business hub and a culture centre.

Larnaca (90 min drive away)
Larnaca, the island’s main airport town and secondary port, is known for its links with the past as well as with the modern world! In the heart of modern Larnaca you will find the remains of the ancient city-kingdom of Kition, reminiscent of glorious days. The Mycenaean Greeks fortified the town with cyclopean walls in th 12th century, while the Phoenicians founded a powerful kingdom here in the 9th Century. Kition is the birthplace of the philosopher Zenon, founder of the Stoic School, and it is here that Saint Lazarus was buried. In the 18th Century Kition became a commercial centre and the seat of the European consulates. Today Larnaca’s landmarks include the delightful palm lined promenade, the fort and the old quarters. The Salt Lake near the airport is an environmental jewel and a stopover for thousands of migrant birds in winter.

Ayia Napa and Protaras (120 min drive away)
Located on the east side Cyprus, famous landmarks include the tiny fishing harbour of Ayia Napa, the mediaeval monastery in the heart of the village and the windmills and small churches in the surrounding villages. There are some fantastic beaches to be found here which visitors come to enjoy along with the combination of rural life that can be found here.

Skiing in Troodos (90 min drive away)
Skiing in Cyprus is a well kept secret! The ski season generally runs between January and April. The Cyprus Ski Club which is an hour and a half drive away has four ski lifts reaching 8 alpine ski runs on the slopes of Mount Olympus (1,951m). The runs accommodate all skiers, from beginner to advanced levels. There are also cross country ski tracks. Downhill and cross country ski equipment can be rented. It really is possible to ski in the mountains and swim in the sea on the same day!
